LANCE NRT no update

by marcolaiolo » Sun Feb 26, 2023 4:05 am America/New_York

Dear staff,
I notice that since yesterday no new daily folder have been produced and showed in the nrt3 and nrt4 of the LANCE system for MODIS and VIIRS product. Alternatively, seems that the LAADS system not experienced this problem. Due to my research related to the near-real time processing of, substantially, worldwide data I'm interested about the motivation of this issue and on the possible time of resolution of this.
Please, let me know if you can suggest me to, temporarelty, shift my continuous downloading system towards LAADS, due to unknow time of resolution of the LANCE-NRT3/4 system.
Thank you very much for the attention and for your great work,
Marco Laiolo

I have the same issue, MODIS NRT Global Flood Product for 20230225 is not released yet, https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/allData/61/MCDWD_L3_NRT/2023/056.

Thanks very much!

We are experiencing the same problem. We usually retrieve data from

https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/allData/61/MYD01/

https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/allData/61/MYD03/

https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/allData/61/MOD01/

and https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/allData/61/MOD03/

No data has been posted to those for locations since day 55 (which is 2023-02-24). If someone could please look into it it would be most appreciated!

We had interruptions in our L0 data delivery for all instruments, including MODIS Terra/Aqua and SNPP/J1 VIIRS, starting around 2023-02-24 23:06z, because of some system anomaly with our upstream L0 data provider. The L0 data delivery was resumed over the weekend, however, and all VIIRS NRT processing should now be nominal. However, for MODIS, some of the upstream L0 based processes are failing with some errors, that could possibly be related to the NRT L0 files that we have started receiving since the restoration of the L0 by our upstream provider. We are not seeing the same error for the Ops L0 files and so, we have started using the Ops L0 for our NRT processing to ensure NRT MODIS data production, even at a slight lag for now.

However, all NRT Aqua processing is still on-hold as the Aqua GBAD based NRT specific ephemeris and attitude file generation process is also failing. We have reached out to all parties for a possible resolution of this. So, for now, all Terra MODIS NRT products should still come out, at a little lag, but all Aqua MODIS NRT product are on hold as we try to resolve this error. Sorry for any inconvenience caused and yes, for now, if you can download data from LAADS instead of LANCE then that could be another option.

Hi,
thanks for the update. Is there a place where we can get ongoing updates with this situation? Or should we follow this post?

Also, has the naming convention been updated on purpose? E.g. https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/api/v2/content/archives/allData/61/MOD00F/Recent/MOD00F.A2023056.0700.20230561812.000.PDS.xz

Have a great day,
Conrad

We will send out updates through the lance-modis email list. If you are not already subscribed to that list then I will request you to sign up for that at: lance-modis@lists.nasa.gov.

Terra data flow should be nominal from nrt3/4 other than a lag. As mentioned before, we are using the Terra L0 from OPS to temporarily bypass the L0 Splitter error on NRT. That is why you are seeing the difference in the filenames for the MOD00F.

Aqua is still held-up but we are actively working on a code fix to get around these NRT errors. We will keep everyone posted.

Hi,
thanks for the information. I have joined the list now.

A follow up question though regarding the current files. I'm getting 404 errors when trying to access them. One example is the following:
https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/api/v2/content/archives/allData/61/MOD00F/Recent/MOD00F.A2023056.0700.20230561812.001.PDS.xz
https://nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/api/v2/content/archives/allData/61/MOD00F/Recent/MOD00F.A2023056.0700.20230561812.000.PDS.xz

I will continue testing to see if other files of interest continue to be not available.
Have a great day,
Conrad
