Bounding Box Issue using L1/2 browser

by dsgrimmer » Thu Mar 30, 2023 2:19 pm America/New_York

Hi, I'm looking into the effectiveness of different satellites of capturing ocean color at local scales. I've been creating spatial subsets in SeaDAS to get a closer view at local coastlines. However, even when using the exact same geospatial coordinates, sometimes the bounding box does not represent the same area. I'm attaching an image for context. The change was more gradual than shown here, but this just represents the extreme. The first is accurate, and as I went through images (I'm going chronologically) the change became more apparent. Does anyone have an idea of why this might occur? Please let me know, thanks!

Re: SeaDAS Spatial Subset Issue

Are you asking a question concerning the bounding box issue with the subsetting or a question about the gradual change of chlor_a of the Hawkeye data as you asked in the other posts? -- viewtopic.php?t=4080

As I mentioned in the other posts, it's helpful that you provide the file names and attach the images instead of PDF files...

Hi! This is separate from the chlorophyll pattern I mentioned in another post. I'm talking about an issue with the bounding box here. I can't attach the images as they are .nc files, but I'm going to include links to the images I got from the Ocean Color website. Does this work?

Please let me know if you need a different type of file. Thank you so much for your help!

The link you provided shows nothing. Judging from the parameters in the link, your search returns two scenes -

SEAHAWK1_HAWKEYE.20210929T183752.L1A.nc
SEAHAWK1_HAWKEYE.20210929T183752.L2.OC.nc (You probably downloaded L2 files)

SEAHAWK1_HAWKEYE.20220904T183758.L1A.nc
SEAHAWK1_HAWKEYE.20220904T183758.L2.OC.nc

L1/2 browser is not mapped. When you enter the coordinates for the bounding box, the browser will return scenes that meet the search criteria. Those scenes will not have the exact coordinates of the bounding box you provided.
