Incorrect timestamp of one terra L1A granule

by hanzhi.lin » Tue Apr 04, 2023 11:35 am America/New_York

Hi,

I found one Terra L1A granule stored in OB.DAAC might show an incorrect timestamp. The OB's name of this granule is TERRA_MODIS.20010816T173146.GEO.hdf. Maybe the timestamp ought to be 20010816.1730 (YYYYMMDD.HHMM) ?

Cheers
Hanzhi

Actually,

T2001228173000.L1A_LAC has 17:31:45 as start time (RANGEBEGINNINGTIME= 17:31:44.786658), therefore the corresponding GEO file is

TERRA_MODIS.20010816T173146.GEO.hdf, which has the same start time (perhaps 1 second off).

Here is the OBPG File Naming Convention -- https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/filenaming-convention/
However, our modis L1A files do not follow the convention.
