The NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) has recently published a Data-in-Action article entitled "Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) surface temperature data show unusual Antarctic high temperatures in February"

From the Introduction:

In early February 2020, two weather stations on the Antarctic Peninsula reported unusually high temperatures that could, if confirmed by the World Meteorological Organization, stand as record high temperatures for the entire continent of Antarctica.

As February is one of the warm summer months in the Southern Hemisphere, data from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) on NASA's Aqua satellite was used with the Giovanni data visualization tool to examine the seasonal temperature cycle in this region, and to determine if the remotely-observed temperatures from AIRS provided support for the temperatures recorded by the ground stations.
