Modis Aqua NE Images Are Piece-meal and Useless

We have had clear skies here in the NE, but after extracting images from the Modis Aqua they are useless. I believe it is cloud cover mask is not working properly. It is blocking out areas of clear cloud free ocean as if they are obscured by clouds.I can provide examples of AVHRR images of the NE and compare them to the same period from Modis Aqua imagery.
