Update: Terra ASTER Processing Resumes

by LP DAAC - jwilson » Mon Jul 24, 2023 2:59 pm America/New_York

Since October 23, 2022, the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Ground Data System (GDS) has been unable to process new ASTER L1A Reconstructed Unprocessed Instrument Data (AST_L1A.003) due to issues related to Terra’s orbit-lowering maneuver. The GDS was able to resolve software issues and successfully implemented changes to the production system. Forward processing has resumed for all new AST_L1A.003 and L1A-derived higher level products as of July 18, 2023. Reprocessing of the data from October 23, 2022, to present will take place in the near future. Information about the reprocessing schedule will be posted once LP DAAC has received a definitive timeline.

Author's Note 07/26/2023: Processing for the historical backlog of ASTER L1A Reconstructed Unprocessed Instrument Data (AST_L1A.003) and L1A-derived higher level products from October 23, 2022, to June 30, 2023, began on July 25, 2023.
