MODIS LAI valid range

by han_jh0120 » Tue Aug 15, 2023 12:38 pm America/New_York

Hi there,

I downloaded two different MODIS LAI products: MOD15A2H from Feb 18, 2000, to July 3, 2002, and MCD15A3H from July 4, 2002, to Dec 31, 2020. According to the documentation from LP DAAC, the valid range for both products should be 0-10 after applying a scale factor of 0.1.

However, while the MCD15A3H data was consistent with this, I noticed that several dates within the MOD15A2H dataset had values exceeding 10, even reaching up to around 15. Can anyone clarify why MOD15A2H might exhibit values greater than the stated valid maximum of 10?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Jeongho

I've made a few changes for clarity and to make it read a bit more naturally. I hope this helps!

Hi Jeongho,
I am thinking those specific pixels are of questionable quality. Did you have a chance to look at the QA information for those pixels? If you could send me a specific Granule ID with the H/V number and date I could take a look and see what may be going on.
Thanks,
Brett
