How to identify multi-layer cloud in SatCORPS?
There is no multi-layer flag in CER_GEO_ED4_HIM08_NH_V01.2 (or SH) product. I was wondering how to identify multi-layer cloud in this product? Or did they exclude multi-layer cloud from original retrievals?

Re: How to identify multi-layer cloud in SatCORPS?
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in CERES.
The GEO products, regardless of geostationary satellite, do not have multi-layer clouds in them. They are pixel-level products. Each pixel either has a cloud or does not. If there is a cloud, then the cloud properties are given.

Re: How to identify multi-layer cloud in SatCORPS?
Thanks for your warmest help!
In your discription, every cloud pixel represents cloud. Does every cloud pixel mean cloudy condition? Are there variables directly or indirectly offer cloud fraction information? ( indirect index may be like variables about clear sky? )
Another question: what does the variable 'visible raw-count' mean in SatCORPS product?
Thanks again and sorry for bothering you.

Hello,
In regards to your questions:
Does every cloud pixel mean cloudy condition? Are there variables directly or indirectly offer cloud fraction information?
Yes. CERES algorithms identify the full pixel as cloudy or clear. No partial pixel retrieval is done.
what does the variable 'visible raw-count' mean in SatCORPS product
This is the direct raw (nominal) count observed by satellite. The visible reflectance is calculated using in-house calibration. The raw count is provided in case users want to apply their own calibration to calculate the radiance for their applications.
