I ran into this error message while attempting to execute the generation of RRS from a L1 Landsat-8 metadata file:

execution exception: java.io.IOException: l2gen failed with exit code 1.
Check log for more details.

It doesn't look like the original poster ever followed up... however I have just encountered the exact same error running L2gen on a Landsat 9 file, so thought I would add to this thread. Here is the error.

Exit get_oli_angles with error
-E- /Users/dshea/ocssw/oel_hdf4/libl1/l1_oli.c line 552: geofile specified must be an Enhanced Meta-Data file (EMD format)

Following the request you made to al3xandur I also did SeaDAS-Toolbox -> Software & System Info and have pasted it below.
