MERRA-2 skin temperaute
MERRA-2 skin temperaute
I would like to ask whether the skin surface temperature is the theoretical temperature or the measured temperature, because the temperature trend I drew using the theoretical temperature of ERA5 is rising, but the change is slight in MERRA-2.

Please provide more information, with more description and coordinates on when and where you are comparing the data, so we can provide further assistance and insight.Over the ocean, both MERRA2 and ERA5 read in SST observations, Over land, ERA5 assimilates near surface air temperature and moisture, while MERRA-2 does not. If the user is looking over land, there is a possibility that there is a difference. They can be close but there is no reason for them to be the same. For certain regions with little observations (eg Africa), there will be more uncertainty.
