VIIRS fire data

by shx_nju » Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:44 am America/New_York

Hello everyone,
I've download VIIRS S-NPP 2022 fire products from https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/download/create.php, and I find that there is no fire records from September to December. I'm not sure whether there is something wrong in my operation or there is exactly no satellite-observed fire events.
I'd greatly appreciate any advice to solve the issue.

Sorry this post slipped through the net - so apologies for the later reply! There are data for the period you are interested in so, please try again and if you still have problems email support@earthdata.nasa.gov with the email address you used for the query so we can check what is happening.

As an FYI - you can check what data are be available by going to the FIRMS maps (https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/ for FIRMS Global or https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/usfs/map/ for FIRMS US/Canada). To view up to 31 days of data use the "Advanced" mode (by clicking on the 3 green horizontal lines in the top right menu), click on 'week' and select 30/31 days from the drop down menu and then use the 'calendar' icon to set the dates you want e.g. for the whole of October 2022 select 31 October 2022.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I have already figured out what my problem is. VIIRS-SNPP global data products after September 2022 is stored in "fire_nrt_SV-C2 xxxxxx" file, not in the standard "fire_archive_SV-C2 xxxxxx" file, so I mistakenly thought there was no data from September to December in 2022 at that time.
And, thanks again for your reply!
