Unfortunately I am looking for data with as small resolution as possible, 1 km is the smallest I have found. I am looking at the changes in sea surface temperature in a very small area.
All I need is a dataset with longitude, latitude, time, and the sea surface temperature, so I can make plots and calculate the mean temperature every month of the year in a specific pixel.

Thank you for the suggestion, however, I need data that goes back to the early 2000s. Starting somewhere between the years 1999 and 2005.

MODIS-Terra SST data products begin in 1999, and are at 1km resolution at nadir in the Level 2 swath format.

It is vital to mention the dataset when discussing Level 4 data because it affects model outcomes. Clarity ensures that visualizations are accurately interpreted and yield valuable insights.

I am now using this data: GHRSST Level 2P Global Sea Surface Skin Temperature from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the NASA Aqua satellite (GDS2)
(MODIS_A-JPL-L2P-v2019.0).
However, the temperatures I see are freezing temperatures so I was wondering if this is the cloud cover temperature or just errors in the data?

Hello,
Make sure you are flagging the MODIS sea_surface_temperature variable with flag >=4 from the quality_level variable to only view valid SSTs. This flagging step will remove contaminated pixels.
