ORNL DAAC Request for Revising an Existing GCMD Instrument: AVIRIS

Hi,

To more accurately curate the metadata for data collections related to the AVIRIS facility instruments, we'd like to request for a revision to an existing GCMD instrument keyword.

Existing GCMD instrument to be revised:
UUID: d67afd03-3b79-419c-9289-5dde713ab904
Short name: AVIRIS

Please help to 1) add two alternative labels "AVIRIS-C" and "AVIRIS-Classic" and 2) revise the "Description" as detailed below:

Definition: The Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer - Classic (AVIRIS, AVIRIS-C, or AVIRIS-Classic) is the first of the NASA AVIRIS spectrometer Facility Instrument series. The AVIRIS-C delivers calibrated images of the upwelling spectral radiance in 224 contiguous spectral channels (also called bands) with wavelengths from 380 to 2510 nanometers (nm). The AVIRIS has been in operation since 1987 and flown on various aircraft platforms, including NASA's ER-2 jet, Twin Otter International's turboprop, Scaled Composites' Proteus, and WB-57. The AVIRIS instrument collects data that can be used for characterization of the Earth's surface and atmosphere from geometrically coherent spectroradiometric measurements. This data can be applied to studies in the fields of oceanography, environmental science, snow hydrology, geology, volcanology, soil and land management, atmospheric and aerosol studies, agriculture, limnology, etc.
