Questions about CERES GEO dataset.
What's the difference of version 1.0 and version 1.2 in some satellites of the CERES GEO dataset? Such as GOES-15 and GOES-13.
I also notice that the version always changes in 2015 and there are some overlapping periods in two versions. Which version shoud be used in the overlapping periods?

Re: Questions about CERES GEO dataset.
There is a limitation in our processing code that requires that all five geostationary satellite have the same version. We needed to reprocess data for the Himawari 8 starting in July 2015 that necessitated the change. The overlap period was what was processed before the need was discovered. We are currently working to clean up the overlap period.
For the GOES-13 and GOES-15, there is no difference between the two files.
The higher version should be used, i.e. 1.2, when available.

Re: Questions about CERES GEO dataset.
Sorry for bothering you again. But what do you mean "requires that all five geostationary satellite have the same version"?
Specifically, for example, the time coverage of SatCORPS GOES13 is from 2008 to 2017, but changed to version 1.2 in 2015. If I want to analyze all the data of GOES13, I will combine the data from the two versions. What I want to know is does the mixing of different versions affect the results?

Re: Questions about CERES GEO dataset.
The five GEO satellites used to process a given month have to have the same version to make an internal product used for SYN1deg. After processing Himawari 8 data for about three years, a problem was discovered that required reprocessing back to July 2015 when Himawari 8 started to be processed. The GOES had the version in their name changed, but they were not reprocessed.
After July 2015, only Version 1.2 of the files are now visible.
Sorry for the confusion.
