LP DAAC Releases EMIT L2B Carbon Dioxide Data Products!

LP DAAC is pleased to announce the release of NASA’s Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation (EMIT) Level 2B Carbon Dioxide Enhancement Data (EMITL2BCO2ENH) and Level 2B Estimated Carbon Dioxide Plume Complexes (EMITL2BCO2PLM) data products. The new carbon dioxide (CO2) data products join the Level 2B Methane Enhancement Data (EMITL2BCH4ENH) and Methane Plume Complexes (EMITL2BCH4PLM) in the EMIT Greenhouse Gas (GHG) series of products at a 60 meter (m) spatial resolution.

The EMITL2BCO2ENH and EMITL2BCO2PLM data products provide carbon dioxide (CO2) enhancement and estimated CO2 plume complex data in Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) format. The EMITL2BCO2PLM granules also include a GeoJSON file containing a vector outline of the plume complex, a list of source scenes, coordinates of the maximum enhancement values, and the uncertainty of the plume complex.

The EMIT Level 2B GHG series of products can be used to identify and quantify point source emissions. An interactive map showing the locations of CO2 and CH4 plumes along with metadata and additional data resources can be found on the VSWIR Imaging Spectroscopy Interface for Open Science (VISIONS) EMIT Open Data Portal.
