NASA’s Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) is pleased to announce the release of four Lund-Potsdam-Jena Earth Observation SIMulator (LPJ-EOSIM) Version 1 data products. Included in this release are the Level 2 Global Simulated Daily Wetland Methane Flux (LPJ-EOSIM_L2_DCH4E), the Level 2 Global Simulated Monthly Wetland Methane Flux (LPJ-EOSIM_L2_MCH4E), the Level 2 Global Simulated Daily Wetland Methane Flux Low Latency (LPJ-EOSIM_L2_DCH4E_LL), and the Level 2 Global Simulated Monthly Wetland Methane Flux Low Latency (LPJ-EOSIM_L2_MCH4E_LL) datasets. These wetland methane (CH4) flux data products will be used to support the United States Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Center and its mission to study natural GHG fluxes. The model will also be used to facilitate improved rapid detection and attribution of climate-carbon feedback and help with strategic placement of measurement campaigns and monitoring systems as they relate to predicted biogeochemical hotspots.
The low latency data (LPJ-EOSIM_L2_DCH4E_LL, LPJ-EOSIM_L2_MCH4E_LL) are delivered on a two-month cadence and will be updated as new carbon dioxide (CO2) input data become available. The LPJ-EOSIM_L2_DCH4E and LPJ-EOSIM_L2_MCH4E data for the previous year are delivered on an annual basis around the month of May when the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Global Monitoring Laboratory (GML) CO2 concentration dataset for the previous year is published.
