I am writing to inquire about the convention of the azimuth of the sensor on board the Aqua satellite and the convention of the solar azimuth, that is, the convention of the sensor azimuth and the solar azimuth variable provided in the MYD06 data product. I mainly want to know which orientation is defined as the starting orientation in the MYD06 data, that is, the azimuth is 0 degrees. Which orientation is defined as -90 degrees, which orientation is defined as -180 degrees, which orientation is defined as 90 degrees, and which orientation is defined as 180 degrees?

The solar azimuth angle is the compass direction from which the sunlight is coming at a particular location and time.
The sensor azimuth angle is the direction from which the satellite sensor is viewing the target point on the Earth’s surface.
The angle 0 degree represents north, 90 degree represents east, 180 degrees represents south.
- 90 degrees: it means 90 degrees counterclockwise from the north direction. It corresponding to 270 degrees clockwise, pointing directly west.
-180 degree: it means 180 degrees counterclockwise from the north direction, which is the same as 180 degrees clockwise, pointing directly south.
and indicating south.
The negative values indicate the direction in degrees from the North, but measured in the counterclockwise direction.
