How to cite products and assistance given on the forum

Hi :)

As I am working on my research articles, I would like to cite the MODIS-Aqua products. I read the "How to cite" post and I assume this is what it should look like... however, I haven't been able to find the doi for these two products. Can you please help me? :)

If there are any errors in the citations, please let me know!

NASA Ocean Biology Processing Group (OBPG). (2022). MODIS/Aqua Ocean Color Reprocessing 2022.0, NASA Ocean Biology Distributed Active Archive Center. doi: xxx. Accessed January 2023.

NASA Ocean Biology Processing Group (OBPG). (2019). SST Reprocessing 2019.0, NASA Ocean Biology Distributed Active Archive Center. doi: xxx. Accessed January 2023.

I would also like to quote this mathematical expression you gave (see here: viewtopic.php?p=15745#p15745). I gave the credits on my thesis (i.e. equation for "cloud removal" kindly provided by NASA/OB.DAAC.), but I want to cite properly (and acknowledge the help that was provided) and the "How to cite" article doesn't have an example of how we should proceed when citing information given here on the forum. I would really appreciate your help once again!

Thank you very much!

Kind regards,
Cassandra

Hi Cassandra,

To answer your first question about citing OB.DAAC datasets. You can find more specific information about the datasets by going to the oceancolor website: https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov and navigate to About > Missions. From there, you can choose Aqua MODIS, for example. You an click the DOI tab below the description of the mission. There, you will see a list of currently available products. Click a product link from the DOI tab to see the DOI for that product. This can be used to narrow down your citation to a specific product.

For your second question about citing information from the Earthdata Forum, I've reached out to the forum product owner, who will reply to you with the best advice on that.

Hello everyone!

I hope all is well with you. I am having trouble finding the DOI for the SST products as the list of DOIs only includes the 2022 products. Could someone please provide the DOI for the SST 2019 product?

Thank you very much!

Kind regards,
Cassandra
