CDO Handling of Fill Values During Regridding

by mromm4 » Mon Feb 17, 2025 3:20 pm America/New_York

Hello Everyone,

I've been using CDO to regrid 4km MODIS data to 1 degree by 1 degree for several ocean color variables however I'm not certain if CDO can correctly handle the fill values or not when regridding. I know that the fill values for missing data before processing are a bit different depending on which variable you look at (chlorophyll is different from sea surface temperature for example) so I also was wondering if that made any difference.

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

Sorry, CDO is not our software, so I can't provide a solid answer to your question. If you are using our L3M data, I recommend using our software SeaDAS (https://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov) for regridding/remapping purposes.

Best,
Guoqing
