Unable to download Landsat impervious surfaces
Unable to download Landsat impervious surfaces
Hello,
I have attempted multiple times over the last month to download LANDSAT impervious surfaces data from Earthdata and gotten the following error: The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
The specific file I would like to download is 01F_gmis_impervious_surface_percentage_utm_30m.zip although I've tried with others that appear when searching "impervious surface" as well, and got the same error.
The region I am specifically trying to obtain these files for is Tierra del Fuego, at the tip of South America.

Re: Unable to download Landsat impervious surfaces
Thank you for reporting the issue. SEDAC is working correcting the download URLs for the granules in CMR. In mean time, please try download granule from:
https://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/downloads/data/ulandsat/ulandsat-gmis-v1/01F_gmis_impervious_surface_percentage_utm_30m.zip
The data are also available via this webmap on Earthdata GIS (EGIS) platform:

Re: Unable to download Landsat impervious surfaces
Hello,
Thank you for your patience. The download issue has been fixed. The download link - posting.php?mode=reply&t=6483&sid=8b57fd51fb8355ca67db90f31319980d#confirm_external_link-modal is now working.
Regards,

Re: Unable to download Landsat impervious surfaces
Hi, the download function is still not working from within the Earthdata search. The link to the zip file you posted did work, but unfortunately I said the incorrect file before, I believe the one I need is:
19F_gmis_impervious_surface_percentage_geographic_30m.zip
19F_gmis_impervious_surface_percentage_geographic_30m.zip
Re: Unable to download Landsat impervious surfaces
Hello, is there any update on this ongoing server issue? I am still unable to download the file I need.
Re: Unable to download Landsat impervious surfaces
I am also having difficulties downloading the data. Last week I tried multiple times to get the GMIS impervious surface percentage data and standard error over all of Canada in geographic format at 30m resolution. I have tried both on the SEDAC website (https://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/mapping/gmis-hbase/download-view/) on which I get the message 'can't parse the response' and on the EarthData website (https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov/search/granules?p=C1517102461-SEDAC) where last week I got the same message as kdavis79 (i.e. ' The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.') despite trying multiple times on different days. I tried to access it again today (Monday March 31st) and now the data is not even showing up on the EarthData portal.
Is it possible to fix this issue or is there anywhere else I can access the data?
Thank you.

Good to know I'm not the only one smadsen! I've literally been trying to download this data since January.

Hello @kdavis79 and @smadsen ,
SEDAC data and information are not available at this time. Any information on Earthdata represents the best data and information available before March 7, 2025.

@"ASDC - rkey"
I did see the announcement about the SEDAC data on the Earthdata archive but my interpretation was that no data would be processed after March 7th but data processed (and posted on the server) before March 7th would still be available. Has the previously processed data been removed from the Earthdata server? If so is there somewhere else it is archived?
Thank you
