a question about 3A GPM_DPR

dear friends,

I have a doubt about the vertical resolution about the GPM DPR Precipitation Profile 1 month 0.25 degree x 0.25 degree V06 (GPM_3DPR).

The web https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov (/datasets/GPM_3DPR_06/) summary, shows the Vertical:125-250 m, while the hgt (number of heights above the earth ellispoid 2,4,6,10 and 15km) of the data is 5. Which one is more accurate ? and where can I get higher vertical resolution reflectivity grid data ?

Thank you!

Dear GPM user,

Thank you for your inquiry about GPM_3DPR.

The number of heights above the earth ellipsoid: 2, 4, 6, 10, and 15 km is 5 for both grids (G1: 5 deg. and G2: 0.25 deg.), based on the file specification document, ftp://gpmweb2.pps.eosdis.nasa.gov/pub/GPMfilespec/filespec.GPM.pdf

The vertical resolution (125-250 m) in the dataset (3DPR) landing page is for the Level-2 2ADPR,

https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/datasets (/GPM_2ADPR_06/summary?keywords=2adpr)

and 3DPR is derived from this Level-2 dataset.

The vertical resolution in the 3DPR landing page is confusing and needs to be corrected. I will submit a ticket.

Best regards

Dear friends,

Thanks for you replay !

I want to get higher vertical resolution reflectivity grid data. Is it possible for you to provide program code to obtain Level 3 from Level 2 ? In that case, I can replace the original 5 layers to more layers.
