New GCMD Keyword Request
New GCMD Keyword Request
Hello! I would like to request several new keywords:
1. PROVIDERS > ACADEMIC > KU-LEUNVEN/DEES > Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven
Definition: The main mission of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences is to carry out state-of-the-art scientific research with respect to the functioning of geo- and ecosystems at different spatial and temporal scales, including the interaction between humans and the environment and the sustainable management of natural resources.
2. PROVIDERS > ACADEMIC > MT-STATE/DES > Department of Earth Sciences, Montana State University
Definition: Our faculty includes 13 full-time earth scientists, geologists, and geographers and our student body includes about 50 graduate students and over 200 undergraduate majors. A complimentary staff of roughly 20 adjuncts, research professors, affiliates, and support personnel are an invaluable asset to our departmental community for learning, discovery, and engagement. We are proud to offer degrees at the Bachelors, Masters, and PhD levels.
3. EARTH SCIENCE > CRYOSPHERE > SNOW/ICE > WETNESS
Definition: The amount of liquid water in a unit of snow, often described as a spectrum between “dry” and “wet.” Snow wetness can be calculated quantitatively by measuring the dielectric properties of snow, or estimated qualitatively using manual manipulation of the snow pack.

Re: New GCMD Keyword Request
Hi there — great idea to request new GCMD keywords. The ones you’ve suggested (especially for “Snow Wetness” and those academic departments) fill in some gaps I’ve noticed in the metadata taxonomy. I hope the curators accept them. Do you think it might help if we also submitted a few example datasets or use cases showing how those keywords would improve discoverability?

Thank you for your keyword request. We will review it and let you know when it is complete.
Re: New GCMD Keyword Request
My apologies for double posting! This is a duplicate of my other request, also from Sept 29. Not sure how I did that!
