Webinar 1/30: Focus- NASA PREFIRE Mission Datasets, Services, and Tools

by Earthdata - jbrennan424 » Mon Jan 26, 2026 1:53 pm America/New_York

Join NASA's Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) for a comprehensive two-hour webinar exploring the groundbreaking Polar Radiant Energy in the Far-InfraRed Experiment (PREFIRE) mission and its revolutionary insights into Earth's energy balance.

Topics will include:

* Overview of ASDC's mission and capabilities
* NASA PREFIRE mission background information
* Data Discovery, Access & Visualization Demonstrations: NASA Worldview, Earthdata Search, OPeNDAP for programmatic access, Harmony for data processing, and integration of AWS cloud with QGIS and ArcGIS Pro for advanced geospatial analysis.

A highlight of the session features an interactive Jupyter notebook demonstration using Python, where attendees will learn to access and visualize PREFIRE data through the earthaccess library and other open-source tools, empowering researchers to conduct their own polar radiation analysis. The session concludes with curated resources for continued PREFIRE research and an interactive Q&A segment.
