Issues fetching metadata when requesting download

Dear all,

I have been having trouble getting a download ready with a red "Something went wrong fetching collection metadata" header. I have tried refreshing the page and I don't think there is a relevant alert.

Here are my project details:
1. Name: INFER DEMOGRAPHY
2. Collection: GEDI L2B Canopy Cover and Vertical Profile Metrics Data Global Footprint Level V002
3. Spatial Constraints: SW: -20,-81.5 & NE: 12.5,-43.5
4. Temporal Constraints: Start: 2021-01-01 00:00:00 & Stop: 2021-06-15 23:59:59

I have downloaded half yearly chunks from 2019 to the start of 2021. I have tried adjusting the temporal constraints but run into the same issue. Issue has been around since 5 days ago.

Is there a nice easy work around?

What interface are you using to try and access the metadata? I would like to try it the same way you are.

Hi Arthur,
I am thinking this is due to all the issues that the CMR has been having for the last week or so, the CMR is the database that holds all the NASA DAACs metadata, so all interfaces search that. When I do your search via the Earthdata Search I come up with 1226 granules. When I go to the process to order the data and come to where I can click on Download Data, is this where the error occurs? I have attached a screen shot.

Thanks for the screen capture. I have attached what mine looks like when I attempt it. Odd thig though, I get the exact error you do for about 3 seconds, then it refreshes and I get what I have attached below. Earthdata Search can be quirky at times. Could you try a couple things, like a different browser. Also, it appears that your order has 2 data sets, could you clear that and only do the search for the GEDI, it may be choking on that. Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks for getting back again, unfortunately waiting doesn't seem to work for me. I believe the second dataset is potentially an artefact appearing of not being able to collect the metadata. I have only selected the GEDI data, interestingly though it appears that the issue is not limited to GEDI. I'm getting the same error with VIIRS/NPP:

Hi @aargles We think this issue is related to Earthdata Search or possibly CMR. We are speaking with those teams to see if we can get an answer for you. Have you tried access a smaller amount, such as 1,000 or less and if so are you still seeing the error?

Hello, I've tried cutting it down to ~500 granules. Unfortunately, I'm still getting this error.

Hi @aargles I had a chance to talk to an Earthdata Search developer. They noticed a link in your project is a little odd and might be causing the issue. They recommend starting a new project from scratch and trying to search for the data again within the new project. Please try that and if you are still having issues after that, let us know.
