recent VIIRS missing bands and not in CMR API

by csd.doyle » Thu Feb 19, 2026 2:09 pm America/New_York

Hello,

We have noticed that there is no new 375-m/750-m VIIRS data (VNP02/03 IMG and MOD, and VJ102/03 IMG and MOD) granules return from the CMR API starting February 12, 2026. These data do seem to be in the LAADS DAAC archive, however, and can be fetched with the LAADS DAAC v2 API.

Additionally, with some of the granules returned from the LAADS DAAC API in this past week are missing some bands. For example, VNP02IMG.A2026045.0206.002.2026045110903.nc has bands I04 and I05, but are missing bands I01-3, and VNP02MOD.A2026045.0206.002.2026045110903.nc has bands M07-16, but are missing M-01-6.

Please let me know if these should be posted as separate issues or are related.

Thanks,
Colin

Dear Colin:
All granules, up to 02/18, are available in CMR, so try again. Granules for all products will be up to date in CMR soon (all are in queue).

Regarding your question about missing bands, our QA team will look into it and will let you know what we find.

There is no issue with the granules you flagged, only that those are Night mode granules (see DayNightFlag = Night
in the file header metadata), and those bands do not get populated for Night mode data.
