HELP_Query on Validation of AIRS V7 Relative Humidity Profiles
Posted: Thu Apr 02, 2026 6:49 am America/New_York
I am currently using the AIRS Version 7 Level 2 product (AIRS...L2.RetStd_IR.v7.0.1.0) for my ongoing research, and I am particularly interested in utilizing the vertical profiles of relative humidity (RH) provided at the 15 pressure levels.
In this context, I would like to inquire whether there are any published documents (such as validation reports, technical notes, or peer-reviewed articles) that assess the performance of AIRS RH profiles. Specifically, I am interested in studies that compare AIRS-derived RH with independent observations, such as radiosonde measurements, microwave radiometers, or other in situ or remote sensing datasets, including any known biases or uncertainties.
I have come across some research articles that compare AIRS water vapor content with CMR and GRUAN observations (e.g., https://doi.org/10.1029/2018JD028930). However, I am specifically looking for similar validation or intercomparison studies focused on RH profiles.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could point me to relevant references or resources that document such comparisons.
Sincerely,
Aakash
