I am seeking metadata-only clarification about the authoritative lineage of a
historical VNP03MOD Collection 2 filename referenced by an
AERDB_L2_VIIRS_SNPP Collection 2 InputPointer.
Historical InputPointer:
VNP03MOD.A2021015.0948.002.2021279123232.uwssec.nc
Current public CMR/LAADS record for the same acquisition window:
- Concept ID: G2127557274-LAADS
- CMR revision: 3
- GranuleUR: LAADS:6059740826
- ProducerGranuleId:
VNP03MOD.A2021015.0948.002.2021126144509.nc
- Acquisition: 2021-01-15T09:48:00Z–09:54:00Z
- Collection: VNP03MOD version 2
- PGEVersion: 3.0.33
- Size: 49,428,580 bytes
- Provider MD5: c834b862aff078c4ea3d2b1678ca36cb
The current ProducerGranuleId appears in the public LAADS inventory for
2021-01-15. The historical .uwssec.nc filename does not appear in that current
inventory. Direct public CMR reads returned HTTP 404 for concept revisions 1
and 2 and HTTP 200 for revision 3. I do not interpret these results as proof
that an earlier object never existed.
Could LAADS please clarify:
1. Was the historical .uwssec.nc filename an internal processing object, a
previously archived granule, or a deleted/superseded record?
2. Is there an authoritative identity, replacement, or lineage mapping between
that historical filename and the current ProducerGranuleId?
3. If a mapping exists, could you provide the provider/native ID, historical
checksum and byte size, processing/PGE version, and an official provenance
reference?
4. If the names are not equivalent, is retained metadata or a tombstone
available for the historical object?
This request concerns metadata and provenance only. No data-file delivery or
coordinate/science-array access is requested.

Re: Authoritative lineage mapping for historical VNP03MOD .uwssec.nc InputPointer
Files with ".uwssec" in the filename like VNP03MOD.A2021015.0948.002.2021279123232.uwssec.nc are generated by NASA's Atmosphere Science Investigator-led Processing System (ASIPS) based on LAADS files like VNP03MOD.A2021015.0948.002.2021126144509.nc. We determine that your questions can be better addressed by ASIPS. Please send an email to sips.support@ssec.wisc.edu.
