Due do large uncertainties the TRMM 2A12 hydrometeor profiles over land are set to missing. Users should be accessing the GPM era data products: TMI GPROF https://storm.pps.eosdis.nasa.gov/storm/ or through GES DISC 2A-CLIM 2AGPROFTMI TRMM TMI Precipitation (GPM_2AGPROFTRMMTMI_CLIM).
Algorithm description:
2AGPROFTMI, "Radiometer Profiling", generates surface rainfall and vertical hydrometeor profiles on a pixel by pixel basis from radiometer brightness temperature data using the Goddard Profiling Neural Network algorithm GPROFNN2024 or GPROFNNv1. DOI: 10.5067/GPM/TMI/TRMM/GPROFCLIM/2A/08
