MODIS SCIENCE TEAM MEETING INVITATION

Dear MODIS Science Team Meeting Invitees:

You are cordially invited to attend the upcoming MODIS Science Team Meeting January 4-6 2006 to be held at Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore, 20 West Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland. Anyone interested in what is being accomplished and planned is welcome to attend.

A block of sleeping rooms is available for reservation at the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore. Attendees may contact the hotel directly at (410) 539-8400 or the toll free number (800) 333-3333. Please refer to "MODIS" to ensure that you receive the contracted group rate. The group rate is $141.00 plus 12.5% tax per night. Reservations will be accepted at the group rate until December 19. The Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore will accept reservations on a space/rate availability basis after this date.

Registration is available on-line at url: http://modis.gsfc.nasa.gov/sci_team/meetings/200601/. Everyone is urged to complete registration by December 16 so that proper planning for attendance and logistics can be achieved. Indicate by clicking on the appropriate box(es) which portions of the meeting you are planning on attending. Links to the current agendas and logistics information can also be accessed from the registration page.

The MODIS Science Team Members should reply to this e-mail and indicate if they WILL or WILL NOT be attending the meeting. It is hoped that all Team Members can come along with any colleagues associated with their investigations. Team Members who are unable to attend, but who are sending representative(s) in their absence, should include their name(s) in their response and forward this invitation to them. Please respond as soon as possible with your intentions on attending.

The Science Team Members are strongly encouraged to provide a poster that will be on display throughout the Science Team meeting so as to foster discussion and information exchange. Posters will be available for viewing through out the course of the meeting. The DAACs, ESDIS, Terra and Aqua Projects, and support teams are also invited to provide posters. Easels, foam core, push pins, and bidder clips will be provided for poster presentations. The dimension of the foam core is 48"W (4 ft.) x 36"H (3 ft.).

Please submit plenary and poster presentations electronically prior to the meeting. Presentations and/or posters need to be sent to Brandon Maccherone (bmaccher@pop900.gsfc.nasa.gov) no later than December 30. Posters should be submitted in pdf and plenary presentations in the original software created (preferably PowerPoint). You are being asked to submit your posters and presentations ahead of time so that they can be copied onto DVDs for distribution to Headquarter's Program Managers as quickly as possible.

On January 4, bag lunches will be provided at a cost of $5.00 each for meeting participants. The purpose of the providing the box lunches is to further facilitate extending the poster session and continued discussion. If you are planning to buy a box lunch, please check the appropriate box on the registration site so we can plan accordingly. We won't hold you to it if you change your mind.
